The castle dates back to a manor house that was built here on the Itter in 1220. In 1472 the manor house was replaced by a new building, which basically corresponds to today's castle. A major renovation from 1963 to 1986 with the conversion into condominiums was decisive for the preservation of the building. Alfred Herrhausen was one of the most famous residents of Caspersbroich Castle. An extensive documentation on the history of the castle, with many interesting quotes and pictures, can be found here: zeitspurensuche.de/02/sgcaspe1.htm

The small castle Caspersbroich is hidden between trees.
Behind the entrance to the private property, a clearly visible knight with helmet and spear 'guards' the property.

Very nice property. Privately owned, therefore unfortunately only outside viewing possible.
