It was time again to cross the beautiful stream valleys around Remscheid and Solingen, with the highlight for me: the Hammertal valley.

To avoid riding the same paths over and over again, I planned today's tour to include more gravel paths and steep climbs. This resulted in a total of 1,100 meters of elevation gain.

Once again, I followed a Komoot recommendation: "Old Haan Mountain Railway Route."

Trail fans will definitely get their money's worth here!

First, it goes along the Sambatrasse to Cronenberg, which is nice enough – but from Müngsten onward, things get really beautiful: The old mountain railway route is

Tour through the Brachter Forest and the heath moors in perfect weather.

Starting in Mönchengladbach, the destination was the Elmpter Schwalmbruch and the heart of the Brachter Forest Nature Reserve. Unfortunately, it turned out that the western part of the Schwalm-Nette Nature Park is only accessible

A relaxed tour with plenty of breaks – just to enjoy nature.

And since Little John was on my way back, I picked up two new tires.😊

Today, a gravel tour took me to the left bank of the Rhine between Leverkusen and Cologne – to one of the greenest corners of the region. The route largely led along varied gravel paths through dense, tranquil forest areas, including the idyllic Knechtsteden Forest (Chorbusch). This natural area is captivating

Between showers, I took a short walk through Osterholz and along the Düssel River in the Neandertal Valley. In the Neandertal Valley, the thunderclaps, occasionally accompanied by lightning, were quite frightening. And of course, when you need shelter, there's none in sight. Luckily, thanks to the rain
