Teufelsstein (Bad Dürkheim)

The mountain owes its name to the monolith on its summit - evidently an ancient place of worship."A silent witness still rests on the same spot and alone,where it fell from the Lord of Hell,on a high mountain - the Devil's Stone."Last verse of the poem from "The Picturesque and Romantic Palatinate" by Franz Weiss.

The stone is a highlight for smaller people to climb. Seating is available

If you want to climb: 5 step-like depressions lead up to the top - to a round depression. The following geological information:
"On the 3 - 4 m high boulder you can see kettle-like hollow forms, which are to be interpreted as natural weathering forms and NOT as cultic sacrificial bowls."
