When this path was opened in 2019, I first researched what a Gan inheritance actually is: According to old German inheritance law, a Gan inheritance was the common family assets, mainly real estate, which the heirs could only dispose of jointly. "Gan" means "common (sam)" in Old High German.
Interestingly, the term "ganerbe" was already used by Wolfram von Eschenbach in his verse novel Parzival around 1200. The legal form of inheritance seems to be declining even further. In fact, historically verifiable inheritances exist from the 13th century, a well-known example of this is Eltz Castle on the Moselle.

Beautiful circular hiking trail in the Ganerben forest district (belongs to the Freinsheim community, among other things) with the hiking sign "black ax on a yellow background". It runs partly on the historical circular hiking trail in Leistadt and via Ungeheuersee and the Bismarck Tower. Pretty crowded on weekends!
