The memories of the last strong beer festival on the Nockherberg still live in me. Despite the temporary closure, I hope to soon be able to feel the typical Munich way of life again in the wonderful beer garden and to fully enjoy the Paulaner.

For most of those who make a pilgrimage up the Nockherberg to the "Salvator", the name Nockher is almost automatically associated with the boozy affair of the strong beer season. Few people know that the name Nockher, that Munich family, comes from a whole series of charitable and pious foundations in Munich and various other places that were closely linked to the fate of the city of Munich. The Nockhers moved away from Tyrol in order to settle in Munich, among other places, in the 17th century. The main period of their work falls in the 18th and the first quarter of the 19th century. For the first time, the Nockhers appear as owners of the "Bögner" inn in the valley. This family contributed considerable sums to the enlargement and complete renovation of St. Peter's Church, which was carried out between 1730 and 1756, and also donated charities to St. Peter. The Nockhers also donated significant sums for the construction of granaries and the establishment of the so-called holiday schools.
