These very special works of art are all part of the Abenheim Sculpture Trail, a project of the local homeland association. It was opened in 2009, is a good 3 km long and offers a wide panoramic view from the Odenwald over the Rhine valley to the Palatinate Forest.

The starting point is the four-meter-long high stand that was used to ward off starling and that the Wingert contactor then climbed with the ladder in order to chase away swarms of starlings in autumn with a blank gun. This form of star defense is long in the past, as electronic defense has been used for decades. A few years ago in Abenheim the idea of making these high stands available to artists came up. This path crosses with the Rheinterrassen-, Jakobs- and Lutherweg and can therefore be extended as required. If you use public transport, use vrn.de.

The Abenheimer Skulpturenweg is an offer from the local Heimatverein, which was realized in 2009. The 4 km long path meanders through a sea of vines and offers a panoramic view of the Odenwald over the Rhine plain to the Palatinate Forest.

The initiators set themselves the task of giving a new purpose to discarded high stands, which were previously used to ward off starlings in the vineyard.

A really interesting designed sculpture trail, we passed here on our hike on the Luther Trail.
