"The Gera region has been inhabited since the last ice age. One example, the historical excavations at the Hüglegrab near Collis provide. It was discovered in 1827 and dated to the Bronze Age. In 1875, the Geraer Gustav Korn carried out the first excavations on site and became fast He uncovered four human skeletons, which have been well preserved and come from three adults and one adolescent.
The burial site, which is more than 2000 years old, also contains valuable items for the dead. In addition to cord-decorated vessels, cups, bowls and a jug, Korn also finds various flint tools and weapons.
Today the grave is unfortunately not very well preserved. But it can still be guessed where the first settlers and our ancestors buried their deceased relatives in Collis. "Paul Hentschel
