The Lutherlinde was planted on October 31, 1817 on the occasion of the 300th anniversary of the Reformation and the 4th anniversary of the Battle of Leipzig.

The tree was formerly called "Dingerlinde". Today it has a trunk circumference of 3.80 m and is on the way to the Ferberturm.
