Drachenschwanz Bridge

The dragon tail in Ronneburg, Thuringia, is the longest wooden bridge in Europe at 225 m. Built in 2007. It leads over the Gessental and connects two areas of the "Neue Landschaft Ronneburg", the Ronneburger BUGA area. Their greatest height above ground is 25 m and their width 3.0 to 4.3 m.

The structure incorporates technical innovations, particularly in its sophisticated support design and the wooden tensioning band of the superstructure. The wooden bridge prevailed over a steel/concrete solution in a competition
organized by the client, BUGA Gera und Ronneburg 2007 GmbH. As part of a long-distance cycle path, the bridge's striking shape is particularly striking. With its undulating shape, it follows the pattern of natural paths. At the highest vantage points, the bridge is widened, offering unobstructed views over the birch groves
