The brick church was built in 1889/90 to designs by Albert Petersen. The church building, designed in neo-Gothic forms, is already marked by reformist efforts in architecture around 1900, notably remarkable. the use of tufa, lava and slate. Founder of the Evangelical Lutheran Church was the banker Donner. In the 1950s, it was rebuilt to plans by Jürgen Elingius. Worth seeing is the inside of the church located bronze sculpture "Teacher Jesus" by Ernst Barlach.
