Professor Peter Imanuel Hartmann (1727–1791, professor of pathology, therapy, chemistry and botany) had the house built in 1785 for 2,800 thalers. The house owes its name to the small Belvedere tower (21 m high) on the roof. The tower served Prof. Hartmann as an observatory. This "Observatory Astronomicum" was the first observatory in Frankfurt (Oder).
The postal address is Lindenstrasse 28, where you can also find the impressive front of the building, but the back (Gubener Strasse) is also absolutely worth seeing.
