Today, a group of work colleagues who have become my regular walking friends joined me for a long and relaxing hike from Broxbourne to Enfield. As always, I was put in charge of planning the route, and thankfully everyone was happy to join me for another adventure.
Starting from Broxbourne Station around midday, the route took us through sections of Lee Valley Country Park, along the Lea Navigation and eventually onto the New River Path, finishing in Enfield Town. One interesting feature was how much of the route ran parallel to the railway line. At the same time, the River Lea was busy with people enjoying the water and cyclists using the towpath as a quieter route between Hertfordshire and Enfield.
We kept to a leisurely pace, stopping at several points along the way, including Cedar Park in Cheshunt for a well-earned coffee break halfway through. After crossing the A10, we joined the New River Path and followed it into Enfield.
One highlight was crossing the M25, where the New River and footpath pass over the motorway together on an impressive aqueduct. After just over four hours on the trail, we finished the day in the best possible way, heading to one of Enfield's tucked-away pubs for a few well-earned pints.
A fantastic day of walking, great scenery and even better company. Another brilliant adventure with friends.
