A lovely stretch of the river/canal, very quiet in places and not much industry. Interesting for me to see all the swing bridges (although sadly none in action today), being more familiar with the lock systems further upstream. There was a lot of flowing flooding and large puddles, especially between Newbury and Thatcham, that would be very unpleasant to navigate without waterproof shoes or wellies - the yoga balancing came in a charm!!

Had an errand in Hammersmith so decided to combine it with a run - nice to see lots of people out enjoying the break in the rain and all the shoots coming up in the park. Briefly detoured round Notting Hill as I don't often venture west except to visit the Lyric/Bush.

My nephew's first walk after a week of being poorly. The rain, mud, and borrowed too-small waterproofs were all good fun until our car wouldn't start in the car park!! 🙈
