A quick evening walk from Edmonton to Southgate via Hedge Lane and Bourne Hill, completed in under an hour. The route offered pleasant green breaks, passing through Pymmes Park and finishing near the elegant surroundings of Grovelands Park, two highlights that added calm and character to a simple, refreshing stroll.

This hike from Hadley Wood to Enfield Chase proved to be a deeply satisfying winter walk. Starting at Hadley Wood Station, a great spot for train spotting, I set off with Oli, whose easygoing company made the miles pass effortlessly. The suburban calm soon gave way to woodland paths and open green spaces, with Monken Hadley offering a charming transition into nature. The weather was crisp and cold, though steady movement kept us warm, except during a chilly lunch stop on a bench by the obelisk overlooking Trent Park, a pause that felt perfectly timed. Sections through Trent Park and Hadley Woods were muddy, as expected for the season, adding to the character of the walk. Following parts of the London LOOP alongside Pymmes Brook, the route unfolded through woodland, fields, and waterways. The Rendlesham Viaduct stood out as a striking historical landmark, while the final stretch beside Turkey Brook provided a peaceful approach into Enfield Chase. Finishing with a rewarding pint at The Moon Under Water was just ideal, a fitting end to a varied and refreshing hike.

A late afternoon hike from Crews Hill to Enfield Chase that almost didn’t happen. After starting the day in Enfield Town, I headed to Enfield Chase station to catch the train to Crews Hill. Due to engineering works the train was not running, so the journey began with a rail replacement bus instead. Once at Crews Hill, the walk itself was relaxed and enjoyable. Although the route could easily be completed in around an hour, I took my time to enjoy the peaceful surroundings and focus on landscape photography, shooting in full manual on an older camera. This slower pace made it easier to notice and capture the finer details along the way. Highlights of the route include paths through Crews Hill Golf Club, sections of the London LOOP, crossing the railway tracks, Randelsham Viaduct, and the open views across Hilly Fields. A calm and restorative walk, and a great way to spend a few quiet hours before finishing the day with a well-deserved pint.
