Oakwood to Enfield Chase via. Merryhills Way

A really enjoyable hike from Oakwood to Enfield Chase via Merryhills Way, starting straight from Oakwood Station and quickly leaving the urban streets behind for a much greener and more open route. The weather was just about perfect for walking, although it warmed up so quickly that I was already overheating within the first 10 minutes. Compared to the same route I attempted a few weeks ago in miserable weather, this felt like a completely different hike. The route passed through some lovely stretches around Trent Park Golf Course and Merryhills Way, with a good mix of woodland edges, open paths, and surprisingly scenic views along the way. Highlights included sections of the Enfield Greenways and the London LOOP, the area around Chase Farm Hospital, and the striking Rendlesham Viaduct, where the railway line still crosses overhead, adding a nice bit of industrial character to an otherwise green suburban walk. The final stretch through Hilly Fields was a great way to round off the route before finishing in Enfield. This walk was also a good excuse to take out my new Fujifilm camera with a wide angle lens and experiment with Fujifilm recipes, before ending the day at the Moon Under Water in Enfield.
