Sunday excursion to the Rüdersdorf Museum Park. This is where the limestone that Berlin is made of was and is mined.

A worthwhile excursion into industrial history.

Industrial history presented in an exciting way: next to the open-cast limestone mine is the old lime factory, in which the limestone was burned to burn lime, the raw material for cement. Gigantic kilns arranged in a battery, underground transport channels, large buildings for lorries... industrial architecture at its finest!

Alternatively, after registering, you can take part in a Kalk Canyon tour (jeep safari) or a geological tour including …

It's been over 20 years since my last visit here and a lot has changed. It's really worth it - geology and industrial history on the outskirts of Berlin. Plus picture-perfect weather.

The weather could have been clearer, the view of the open-cast mine was a bit cloudy. It wasn't that far either, the GPS signal was probably a bit confused by the ruins.
But it is an interesting museum where you can leisurely stroll around for 2 hours and occasionally find an old staircase to climb up.
What I think is …
