View of Limburg Cathedral

Highlight • Viewpoint

Very nice view from the Lahn to the Limburg Cathedral. Be sure to visit the city center with its many half-timbered houses. The squares in the historic city center with the many cafés invite you to linger. Absolutely worth seeing!

Beautiful, old arch bridge over the Lahn, from which you have a great view of the castle and Runkel. Right next door there is an ice cream parlor, where you can eat a delicious ice cream.

Lahn Bridge, Villmar

Highlight • Bridge

The marble bridge in Villmar, Hesse is actually a limestone bridge over the Lahn. The bridge is primarily of local importance, but less of a national one. Nevertheless, it is one of the city's landmarks. It was originally built to give residents access to the quarries and the train station without having to take a ferry. To date, little has changed in this fact. In 1985 it was registered as a technical monument and ten years later it was extensively renovated.

When the water is low, this rapids are often used for a stopover: for refreshment or just to watch the hustle and bustle on the, here, wide Lahn.

Cycling here in the Lahn Valley when the weather is nice is always a great pleasure! The fact that there is no road in this section of the valley is an invaluable advantage!

In contrast to the Wetzlar-Weilburg stage, today's Weilburg-Limburg stage is a gem. Beautifully idyllic, quiet and relaxed through seemingly untouched countryside along the Lahn. The journey through Runkel is a feast for the eyes.

At the beginning of June 2023 I rode along the entire Lahn on my 4-day bike tour after the Sieg bike path:

This section of the Lahn cycle path between Limburg and Weilburg was one of the most beautiful sections in terms of landscape, so that we rode it again this weekend as a couple.

Today a half-day tour with Truller time for swimming and looking at the Lahn, with some more summer sun ☀️

Swallowed the route between Wetzlar and Weilburg again 😖 but this part was mostly on the B49 and not so exciting

The stage from Weilburg to Limburg was the most beautiful so far. The cycle path always ran along the Lahn River, stopping at the occasional castle.
The lock in Weilburg is interesting; it went through a tunnel.
We also made a detour to Villmar to visit a small marble quarry; the Lahn Bridge in Villmar is built of marble.

Great route! Almost always idyllic along the Lahn and without car traffic within hearing or sight 👍

Showing Translation

In my opinion, the most beautiful section of the Lahn Cycle Path, as it runs almost exclusively along the river, mostly good underground, hardly any incline and spectacular views. Lots of nature and culture to experience, good and numerous rest stops as well as benches and rest areas
