Belvedere Tower (Halberstadt)

Highlight • Monument

This tower, which is part of the overall concept of the "Spiegelsberge" park, was built by Spiegel around 1780. On the substructure and the intermediate section with the slanted windows, …

There is a small bench right by the road. From there you can climb a few meters up the slope and experience this beautiful view from the Krähenhüttenfelsen. What a view and the perfect place for an extended break!

Klus Rocks

Highlight • Natural Monument

The Klusfelsen is probably the most peculiar part of the Klusberge near Halberstadt. The influences of humans are unmistakable on this sandstone massif, which only appears monolithic from a distance. …

Great rocks 🪨 that you can climb. There are beautiful views all around, partly through the rocks. Some of the rocks are heavily eroded and you should be sure-footed. It's a great experience!

December 18, 2025,Felsen am Tor zum Harz erklimmen - Halberstadt-Spiegelsberge
When you're so excited you don't know which photos to choose, it must have been an exciting hike! 😁👍 The hike took me to Halberstadt, the so-called gateway to the Harz Mountains, where I discovered a rock formation I hadn't seen before. But first, there was a fantastic, varied hike with many highlights, beautiful forests with actually living trees, various …

Before we finally started hiking in a relaxed manner, it took about 4km. But then we were rewarded again and again by beautiful paths, views and rocks! The Tekenberg at around 200m is not particularly high but it has a fantastic view! It's worth climbing up there! The Klusfelsen with their caves were another highlight.

Today we went to Halberstadt. The route was misleading: I took 6-7 wrong turns in the first hour. There was something wrong with it: some paths were blocked or closed off by gates. And once, 2 km before the Thekenberg, the suggested path was either overgrown or simply no longer there, so we continued on through the cornfield. I found …

Memo to me in advance. You have to repeat this in the spring.

That was my most beautiful hiking tour of 2023.
Why?
An hour and a half away from home.
Very varied landscape. Mix and match, pine wall, large meadows, Therasse hiking trails, sandstone monuments like in Saxon Switzerland.
And and and....

A varied and surprising tour south of Halberstadt and thus just before the Harz Mountains: the largest wine barrel in the world, historical buildings and numerous cliffs.
The whole thing with many stamps of the "In the shadow of the witches" series and two ghost stamps of the hiking pin.
The cliff "The Glass Monk", the Klusberge, the Teufelskanzel - …

Unfortunately, a small section was not included by Komoot, but the photos are there. The tour was a bit longer.
