Small Sandstone Caves in the Harz

Highlight • Cave

The small sandstone caves are no less spectacular than their large counterparts. My dogs never wanted to stop playing between the dark caves.

Sand Caves in Heers

Highlight • Cave

Right next to the caves soft white sand, rather not suitable for walking.
But definitely along the paths.

We had three children (6 and 7 years old) with us. Great family tour, not suitable for strollers.
Lots of highlights for the kids.

With blue skies and temperatures around 0 degrees with traces of fog, a little ground frost in the shade and rays of sunlight falling across the landscape, you get great color combinations and moods.

The combination of sandstone caves and castle and the mill at the end is a great trio - equally exciting for dogs and humans ;-)

Today we did a lap of the Regenstein with grandson Oskar. He really liked us, anyway!
Weather played along too! 🤗

We were in the Harz Mountains with the seminar group. I was very surprised about the interesting sandstone area there. I have to go there again.

A weekend like this always goes by far too quickly. Our girls' get-together concluded with a walk around Regenstein. We then had a delicious trout for lunch at Michaelstein Monastery.
