A detour to the idyllic village of Bessin is worthwhile. The small chapel "Zum heiligen Kreuz" was built in 1482 and has not changed externally since then. It is still used today for ecclesiastical and charitable purposes.

Here in my photo there was a sign pointing to an instrument maker in the old rectory. A tuba was standing on top. The huge church is impressive even from afar with its high roof and tower. It was built in the 13th century and completed in the 14th century. It is one of the largest village churches in Germany. It has attractive furnishings. The last renovation was a good 100 years ago. Unfortunately, the train departure time in Stralsund did not allow for a thorough inspection. That is definitely on the list for the next bike tour!

The Alte Schanze is no longer recognizable. It is assumed, however, that it was a small outpost from the Prussian era. What remains, however, is the unique view of the skyline of the city of Stralsund.
