Stresow Bay is an integral part of the Southeast Rügen Biosphere Reserve and enjoys special protection. Therefore, this protected area is strictly off-limits to recreational boats!

The bike path is actually well-paved, but unfortunately, it ends in the middle of a field toward Altefähr. Definitely not suitable for racing bikes. We were also cursing quite a bit with our bikes carrying luggage.

The historic wooden bascule bridge, which connects the two districts of Wieck and Eldena, which are separated by the Ryck, and regulates the passage into the museum harbor, is still operated by hand today with its more than 13-meter-long flaps.

The ferryman is a seated sculpture and part of the sculpture trail in Wieck. The sculpture is both a great photo opportunity with the historic bascule bridge in the background and a nice bench from which you can easily observe the hustle and bustle.

You can relax from several of these benches along the coastal path: view of the sea, the Volkswerft and the old town of Stralsund, as well as the Rügendamm and Rügen. Small boats can be seen here and there.
