The Flakensee is an inland body of water in the Oder-Spree district east of Berlin. It is part of the federal waterway Rüdersdorfer Gewässer, which is used primarily to transport cement from the Rüdersdorf cement works to Berlin and Poland.
The Flakensee has its inflow from the north from the Kalksee over the Kalkfließ and in the southeast over the Löcknitz. It has its drainage to the southwest via the Flakenfließ through Erkner to Dämeritzsee. At the southern end of the limestone river is the Woltersdorf lock with a drop height of 2.10 meters. In the north of the Flakensee lies the community of Woltersdorf, in the south the city of Erkner.
In addition to shipping, the 67 hectare large and maximum 8 meters deep body of water is mainly used for water sports and as a bathing lake.Source: de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flakensee
