The Neumarkttor forms the eastern end of the old town. It was built in front of the old gate in the representative extensions of the fortification when the city was equipped with double gates. From the older inner gate, the defensive tower standing in the background has been preserved, which is also known as the egg tower because of its egg-shaped layout. The area that was still undeveloped between the walls was called the kennel.

The gate fits nicely into the historical cityscape and is always worth a detour.
