This cycle path runs on a former railway line! It is 38 km long and around 27 km of it runs on this old railway line from Fährkrug near Templin to Fürstenwerder.
The railway line was opened in 1913 and unfortunately dismantled by the Russians after the war as reparations.
Since railway lines were/are ALWAYS built without gradients and are usually very straight, as a cyclist you have - no - gradients and gradients here (in the otherwise hilly landscape)!
At some rest areas and "old train stations" the former route is very lovingly pointed out (e.g. in Hardenbeck)!
