This bike path runs on a former railway line! It is 38 km long and runs about 27 km of it on this old railway line from Fährkrug at Templin to Fürstenwerder.
The railway line was opened in 1913 and unfortunately dismantled by the Russians after the war as reparation.
As railroads are ALWAYS built without inclines, and most of the time they are very straight, you do not have any gradients and gradients here as a cyclist (in the otherwise hilly landscape)!
At some rest areas and "old train stations" the former route is pointed very affectionately (for example in Hardenbeck)!
