    The Handlesberg-Haberkogel Group is located about 35 kilometers west of Wiener Neustadt and 25 kilometers northwest of Neunkirchen, between Gutensteiner Klostertal and Schwarzau in the mountains of the upper Schwarzatal. It stretches about 15 km in a southwest-northeast direction and is a good 10 km wide.

    It forms the southwestern subgroup of the Gutenstein Alps. Their main mountains are the Handlesberg (1370 m above sea level) near Schwarzau, the Edlaberg (1096 m above sea level) near Rohr im gebirge and the Haberkogel (1041 m above sea level) between Rohrer Sattel and Unterberg.
