    Hiking

Meadow irrigation was widespread in Central Europe in the 19th and early 20th centuries. In the Black Forest, the tradition goes back to the Middle Ages, when large forest areas were cleared. With the construction of irrigation systems (from 1841) in the Alb and Moosalb Valley, a removal plant was created between Weimersmühle and Schöllbronner Mühle. Now water could be dammed and fed to the main irrigation channel. The water level was controlled by opening and closing the protective panels.

    Hiking

It is still easy to see the old meadow irrigation system. At the top of the valley, the inlet lock at the beginning of the canal and the sandstone trap guides. Meadow irrigation was primarily not against the dryness of the soil, but for natural fertilization with the help of minerals and nutrients (especially after rainfall).

    Hiking

A small path leads through the middle of the meadows between Moosalb and the edge of the forest. In spring and summer there are plenty of flowers and butterflies to discover.
