Bike Touring Highlight
Due to the nearby central station a bit overcrowded touristy, but still has its charm.
Opposite the main station forecourt via the road and bridge, there is a green, slightly lower green area directly on the Spree, inviting you for a little break!

Cycling is possible on both sides, very rarely empty, but there are nice options.

Super bar, right on the Spree. But I prefer the customs packing yard on the other side of the river.

Before the establishment of the Reichstag building, the area of the Spreebogen served, among other things, as a parade ground.
In the northern Spreebogen were in the Empire, the Alsenviertel, an upscale residential district. On the Königsplatz (today's Platz der Republik) stood the then still one segment lower Victory Column.
After the Reichstag fire in 1933, at the beginning of the National Socialist era, the seat of the Reichstag was moved to the Krolloper at the other end of the Spreebogen.
For Adolf Hitler's 50th birthday, the Victory Column was converted to the Great Star.
In the Spreebogen, according to the will of Hitler and his architect Albert Speer, the center of the planned "World Capital Germania" was to be created with the Great Hall of the People and the Führer Palace.
With the construction of the Berlin Wall on 13 August 1961, ran the immediate border between East and West Berlin on the eastern edge of the Spreebogens.
