The city fortifications of Klatovy are a partially preserved system of medieval walls, towers, and bastions from the 13th to 16th centuries. The remains of the fortifications are a protected monument. They are best preserved on the east and northeast sides of the city. The city was once an important stronghold of royal power. It was never conquered by enemy armies.
