Bamberg train station is the passenger train station of the independent city of Bamberg in Upper Franconia. As a hub station, it is served by local trains operated by Deutsche Bahn and the Agilis railway company, as well as by ICE trains. The station is on the Nuremberg – Bamberg, Bamberg – Hof and Bamberg – Rottendorf railway lines.
152 regional and 27 long-distance trains stop daily. In 2016, around 15,000 travelers were counted every day. That made it the busiest train station in Upper Franconia.
The station was put into operation in 1844 as the terminus of the Nuremberg – Bamberg railway line by the Royal Bavarian State Railways. The first train pulled into the station on August 25, 1844, but operations did not officially begin until October of the same year.
