Since its founding in 1954, the Workers' Hall in Kreka has been named after the prominent revolutionary and national hero Moša Pijada (1890-1957), but this cultural center is still popularly known as the Workers' Hall. Older residents of Kreka, as well as some residents of Tuzla, still call it that, although the building became the Bosnian Cultural Center in 1997.
In the Workers' Hall, the central space was occupied by a large hall for cultural events (as it is today), while a smaller, blue hall was reserved for meetings of the Workers' Council of the Kreka Lignite Mine. For many years, the library was located in the back of the building, and one of the halls also housed a brass band, whose members played the famous May Day vigil.
In the 1960s and 1970s, the large hall hosted the most popular folk singers and top orchestras of the former Yugoslavia. Source: tuzlalive.ba/sjecanje-u-radnicki-dom-na-pjevače
