The outer fortifications of the fortress Küstrin. The rapid development of artillery technique in the 19th century, forced the old "Feste Cüstrin" to reinforce with external works. Because: she was no longer able to protect herself. The fortress Küstrin secured the passage on the Oder and counted 1872 to the circle of the most important German fortifications.

An absolutely stunning facility! Given the enormous effort involved, it's hard to imagine that it was barely used.
