The beautiful building of the Warnice pumping station dates back to 1911. At first sight, it resembles a castle. During its construction, Warniki was not yet a district of Kostrzyn. The pumping station should - as the name implies - pump excess water from flood polders into a "reservoir" delimited by manholes. Steam engines were used there and until the 1960s, they were powered by coal. At high water levels even several tons per day were consumed! No wonder that in 1963 steam engines were replaced by electric drives.
