The Husinska Uprising, named after the mining village of Husino near Tuzla, was an armed resistance by miners at the Kreka mine against state violence during the general miners' strike in Bosnia and Herzegovina, from December 21 to 28, 1920. Although the strike broke out due to the government's violation of the wage agreement it had signed, it was declared a subversion. Approximately 7,000 workers participated in the general strike, which was led by the Communist Party through the Miners' Union.
An armed conflict then broke out between the strikers and the gendarmes, resulting in the death of one gendarme. Military reinforcements were then brought in, and the villages where the strikers were resisting were surrounded. Their resistance to the army, gendarmerie, and civil guard, who attempted to expel the foreigners and force the local miners to work, was brutally suppressed after seven days.

Seven miners and farmers were killed, and dozens more were injured. In memory of this uprising and the miners who died between 1941 and 1945, the day the Husinska Uprising broke out (December 21, 1920) was declared Miners' Day. On July 27, 1956, the Kreka miners erected this monument to the Husinska miners in the park behind the then-Workers' House "Moša Pijade."

The monument, a work by Croatian sculptor Ivan Sabolić, depicts a miner with a rifle in his right hand, raised high above his head, and a mining pickaxe in his left. The miner is made of patinated bronze and stands 8 meters tall.
He stands on a stepped concrete plinth covered with black granite slabs.
In May 2019, the Monument – Husinski rudar (Monument to the Miners Who Perished During the Husinski Uprising and Revolution) in the city of Tuzla was declared a national monument of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
