The mill was probably built at the beginning of the 13th century.[5] It was first mentioned in a document in 1458, but without a name. From the location "located on the Rednitz [Regnitz] czu Beyrstorff belonging" it can be concluded that it is the Baiersdorfermühle. In 1497 it was mentioned as "Brantzmul". It was named after the family name Brand, which was probably the name of the owner at the time. The form "Bairstorffer mull" has also been attested since 1581, which became the only form in use from the 18th century. The mill was in the Fraisch district of the Brandenburg-Bayreuth district of Baiersdorf. In 1778 the mill had five grinding cycles and one tanning cycle. There was also a newly built cutting mill, a two-storey house, a small courtyard house with an oven, stables and a barn.[6]

Under the Prussian administration (1792-1806) of the Principality of Bayreuth, Baiersdorfermühle received house number 179 in the town of Baiersdorf. From 1797 to 1810, the town was under the jurisdiction of the Justice and Chamber Office in Erlangen. The mill had its heyday in the 18th and 19th centuries

The Baiersdorf mill is located on the right bank of the river Regnitz. Opposite the weir lies the Kleinseebacher mill belonging to Möhrendorf. You can also see the hydrodynamic screw, which should produce about 60KW. The mill is said to be over 600 years old.

The Baiersdorfer Mühle is located about one and a half kilometers southwest of Baiersdorf, on the right bank of the Regnitz. It was first mentioned in 1458. It was rebuilt after a fire in 1898. The mill has been uninhabited since 2010. In 2018 there were plans to use the house culturally with studios and an exhibition space.
