The Erlangen palace gardens are considered to be one of the earliest baroque gardens in Franconia (area: 7.5 hectares).The Huguenot Fountain was designed by Elias Räntz in 1706. Members of noble Huguenot families are depicted on the lowest level, ancient deities in the middle and Margrave Christian Ernst himself at the very top carved on Castle Hill. The eastern part of the castle garden was converted into an English landscape garden between 1786 and 1826. It has been open to the public since 1849. In June, the university's Castle Garden Festival takes place here as a social highlight.Opening hours:
