Esslingen Castle

For over 700 years the Esslinger castle towers over the city. Nobody has ever lived here, the castle has always been part of the former city fortifications. You can explore the area for free. From the old town a covered staircase with more than 300 steps leads to the ruins of the city wall up to the castle.

At the top near the castle there is a free parking space for cars with no time limit. From there it's a five-minute walk to the castle or Thick Tower.

A large part of the facility is freely accessible and is used as a stage in summer. The thick tower and the Hochwacht are connected by the rope course, from which one has a beautiful view of the city center. The castle has been standing since the 14th century. Particularly beautiful, but also exhausting, is the stairway with more than 300 steps.
