The old Pliensau Bridge in Esslingen am Neckar was built between 1213 and 1286 and once had three towers. Today, only one tower remains of the outer bridge. The bridge has been renovated and still consists of 5 arches. The stone bridge was built on dry land and only flooded later. The construction of the outer and inner bridges represents a masterpiece of medieval engineering.
