Hiking

With the fen, Natuurpunt created a wetland and reforested 1 hectare. A wooden platform borders the fen. There was already a fen there, but the land was raised due to the former pig farm. The topsoil was also removed (to prevent pollution). Drainage channels have now been filled in, and the fen has been restored, as has been done elsewhere in the surrounding area. This also helps retain water and prevent flooding.

Hiking

This fen, created in the 20th century, is situated higher in the landscape and can still retain its water thanks to its special subsoil containing high levels of (impermeable) glauconite. In 2023, the fen was cleaned and the banks cleared of conifers, allowing for more light and reducing leaf fall, which improves water quality.
The fen is approximately 2000m² in size and can be admired from a wooden platform.
