The Queen Jelena Madijevka Park (Perivoj kraljice Jelene Madijevke) is the first city park in Zadar. Its origins date back to 1829, and what is interesting, it was founded in the field of military fortifications by the Austrian commander, Governor Baron Franz Ludwig von Welden. The park was laid out as a romantic garden, in the green there were sculptures, statues, fountains and benches with tables, a small Chinese pagoda was used as a music pavilion. Unfortunately, the park was destroyed by bombing during World War II. Only small groups of trees have survived and it has been gradually reconstructed over the years.
