We went up the mandatory path to the Alpspitz (from where there is a really great view) and then escaped the crowds and went on a nice little circular route over the Edelsberg, the Dinserhütte and the Fichtelhütte (there it was more like hiking than going up to the Alpspitz and much fewer people)

In good weather and with good visibility, the loop around Riegsee is highly recommended! Unfortunately, there is no longer a place to stop for refreshments on the east side (the restaurant at Campingplatz Riegsee is permanently closed), but you will be very well looked after at Campingplatz Brugger.
