About SRQ

Today there was an extra tour on the Heidschnuckenweg for me. With my Thruhike I had to skip the Oberoher Heide due to scheduling reasons. I walked from Müden via Hermannsburg directly to Dehningshof.
Today the weather was nice and so it was a good idea to do a cozy birthday tour through the Oberoher Heide.
No sooner said than done, my better half and I went off. We started at the Heidehexe through the former kieselguhr mining area Oberohe.

Departure to Celle, the last stage of my Heidschnuckenweg. In fact, I got to see Heide today. Shortly after Dehningshof, the Severloher Heide and the old beech trees that survived the 1975 forest fire came into view. The beeches are registered as a natural monument.
Over the Citronenberg to the Wildecker ponds. I arrive in Scheuen, the local soccer team is just about to assemble. Then I cross the glider airfield. After the asphalt gravel that never ends ... I switched to the E1 or adjusted the route a little for myself. After a hidden railway underpass, I come to the first foothills of Celle.

I cross the church of Müden and the Örtze.
After my early departure in Müden, my arrival in the forest did not go undetected for long. A deer jumps over the forest path and disappears into the thicket. A little later, some jays loudly report my presence.
After a bit of a walk along the Örtze through the sandy forest, I'm soon in Hermannsburg.
At the Misselhorner Hof I take a break for breakfast in the coffee garden.
Well strengthened, the heather areas of the Middle Lüss plateau and the Tiefental await me. Purple lust around me!
Off to the Tiefental. Wonderfully dense blooming heather. At Angelbeck's pond it almost seems staged, it is so picturesque. Just a short while and I'm there. To the old carter tavern.

Shortly after entering the Heidschnuckenweg I get lost, but only a short distance, my hiking app reports in time. There are dirt roads and along the edge of the forest. I'm in a bit of a hurry today because I want to catch the bus in Müden at noon.
I reach the first heather area. In full bloom and framed by the forest. It's especially nice that I'm actually alone here. Through the forest and the field, things are moving quickly.
After a little stretch I arrive at Lönsstein. There is a lot more going on here. There is a parking lot near the road and the monument is relatively easy to get to. How nice that I was allowed to be alone with Heide earlier.
After Müden, it's not far, I'll catch the bus.

Several people speak to me while I am still in Soltau. For example, a local resident who is about to get the newspaper in. It's about the Heidschnuckenweg and hiking and that quite a few hikers come by here.
After a dirt road I come into the forest. It rained during the night, the forest is damp and so is the air.
I crossed the motorway again and later I also have to walk a section of a country road. It runs parallel to the military training area.
Many wooded sections follow, also along the edge of the forest. There are some shady benches and resting places in the woods and fields along the way. Much better than yesterday! And again and again small streams and bridges. Around 2 p.m. I reach the first houses in Wietzendorf. A little more way and I'm in the center. A brick church typical of the heather and a heather beekeeper bronze can be found there.

Short stop at the Ole Kerk in Bispingen. Small and fine with Protestant reserve. The old stone church dates back to 1353.
My way leads past the youth hostel on an avenue path. Gradually I get into the forest, the sound of the motorway I have to cross can be clearly heard. A fitness trail as we know it from the 1970s. Passing the Luhe source a little further and I leave the autobahn behind me.
Around 2 p.m., I have just passed the fishing ponds of the Soltau fishing club, a shower of rain. It's 3:00 p.m. and at the thermal bath I get the stamp for my hiking pass. There is an ice cream machine here!
Further to the center, through the Böhmepark and after work.

I started in Niederhaverbeck before seven o'clock, cool temperatures and wonderful light were my reward. Through the Prof. Dr. Ernst Preising Heide. Yes, I was amazed. Here the heather carries an academic degree! 😉
Slightly curved open landscape - and the morning light.
I'm in Behringen around 9:00 am.
deliberately made a detour to the Behringen barrow group. 27 burial mounds from pre-Christian times. In 2014 the area was renatured by the Naturschutzpark e.V. Numerous panels inform me about the burial mounds from different periods.
Then it goes via Behringen through the Behringer Heide towards Bispingen.
The heather in front of Bispingen almost blew me away with its splendor and abundance! See for yourself!

Directly at the place Undeloh I get back on the Heidschnuckenweg. Horses and carriages are put into position for guests in the village.
Very beautiful, spacious heather here and special light in the morning. Actually, I don't want to film until later and do a stretch in the cooler morning. It's not working! Put your backpack down and get your film stuff clear! Mother nature shows herself at her best.
At lunchtime I would like to be in the Heidedorf Wilsede, first a branch through the legendary Totengrund. Thunderstorms are forecast for later noon.
Heathland after heathland follows, always a little different. More juniper or the landscape is gently rolling. My path also leads me along “the most beautiful hiking trail 2014”. Heath, Schnucken, forest, blue sky ... Really fantastic!
The Totengrund is a mystical valley in the middle of the Lüneburg Heath nature reserve. When the heather blooms here in August, you have a wonderful view of the sea of flowers from the valley edges. The purple heather splendor makes the cauldron overflow pictorially. ”This is what the travel guide says. What can I say? It's exactly right.
Then over the Wilseder Berg and soon I'm in Niederhaverbeck.

After an extra handlebar, we continued on the Heidschnuckenweg.
Past Inzmühlen along the Seeve through the forest, partly mossy, enchanted fairytale forest. Very original mixed forest. Light and shadow paint patterns on the path, every now and then I meet a rider.
Past the thatched registry office in Wesel and the Weseler ponds into the middle of the Weseler Heide. I had never seen the heather as beautiful as it was here. Through the heather and field and forest I was immediately in Undeloh. Passing the typical St. Magdalene Church.

After leaving Buchholz behind me, it went through a wooded area, nice and shady but also some climbs. It's only 8 o'clock and I'm unpacking my sweat cloth ...
Then comes the Höllental and stone, nice and shady. Some cyclists are on the way. The Brunsberg connects with the first heather area. Wide views and a cooling breeze, some hikers are here.
Past Holm-Seppensen and the small heather moor, it is half time for today. The little midges in the forest annoy me.
Now I'm looking forward to the heather at Handeloh. Simply purple!
