Top cycling routes to Papenburg City Park

Tips

  • The city park in Papenburg has developed considerably over the last 10 to 20 years and has been worth a visit for tourists and locals since the 2014 State Garden Show at the latest.

  • From the middle of the main canal you can reach the Papenburg city park via a chestnut avenue, which conveys the charm of the Papenburg cityscape with its numerous water courses, canals and bridges. Generous lawns, lots of trees, beds and benches make the city park an inviting place for rest and relaxation. Source: papenburg-marketing.de/DE/Papenburg-entdeck/?we_objectID=150

In 2019 there will again be a flower show in the pedestrian zone and in the city park. A visit is worthwhile and more information can be found on the following pages:

  • The city park in Papenburg
Even if the 5th Lower Saxony State Garden Show ended in October 2014, its motto “colorful and blied” remains unchanged for the Papenburg city park. It was the central event and exhibition area of the garden festival, and with its numerous watercourses, canals and bridges, with its large lawns, trees and flower beds, it is still “colorful and cheerful”.
On the one and a half kilometer long walk through the park is the "forest railing with command bridge" - a tree adventure trail. Visitors can walk barrier-free on the footbridge at a clear height through the existing trees. Not only does the twelve-meter-high observation tower (command bridge) open up great perspectives. Three periscopes provide a view of the Meyer Werft, even for those who do not want to or cannot climb the tower.
