The "Tjalk" ship type is a flat-bottomed ship with characteristic leeboards and, thanks to its shallow draft, is particularly suitable as a sailor for navigating shallow canals.
Neither original nor fake: The six ships in the Papenburg open-air exhibition are true-to-original replicas that were manufactured according to historical plans by Meyer Werft - metal models on a 1:1 scale, so to speak. They are located on the canals of the city center and are reminiscent of the great tradition of shipbuilders, who designed the right vehicle for every requirement.
