The landscape park is always worth a visit. Really great, exciting and worth seeing

There are 3 blast furnaces in the North Landscape Park, but only blast furnace 5 is fully accessible. From the visitor platform above you have a great overview of the Ruhr area and parts of the Niederhein.
Blast furnaces are used to produce pig iron. This is heated from iron ore, which is mixed with coke and burden and poured into the furnace from above. In the lower part of the oven, temperatures of up to 2000 degrees are reached. This is where the iron separates from the ore rock and is then collected.

Normally everything is nicely lit on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings. Unfortunately there was 'sommerkino' when I was there and almost everything was dark. Beautiful old industrial park that looks like a castle.
