There is a parking space directly in front of the castle. It is worthwhile to walk along Schlossstrasse in a southerly direction along the pond and take the path at the pond. Across the pond there is a very nice view of the castle, also great for taking pictures.
Gimborn was pledged in 1273 by the Count of Berg to the Counts of the Mark and was from 1631 residence of the county Gimborn-Neustadt of the House Schwarzenberg. Since the princes resided in Vienna and Bohemia, the Gimborner castle was used by princely governors as official residence.
