The Jewish cemetery in Fredericia, with approximately 550 graves, is the oldest and largest outside of Copenhagen.

The former Jewish community in Fredericia has long since disappeared.

The churchyard, however, still exists, with the fine Hebrew inscriptions on the gravestones.

The churchyard is an important historical reminder of the diverse population that has shaped Fredericia for centuries.

For several generations, the Jews had their synagogue in Riddergade.

The last service in the synagogue was held in 1902,
and in 1910, the last Jew in Fredericia was buried here.

A small house in the churchyard served as a chapel and as a residence for the warden.

Since a thorough restoration in 1993, the house has been used as an exhibition space in the summer, with changing exhibitions on Jewish history.

There are parking spaces for cars and buses nearby. Outside of the season, the cemetery can be visited by appointment with the City Museum, Tel. +45 72 10 69 80.
