Tips
Ferries have docked in Altefähr since 1240 and ships have anchored here for centuries. With the construction of the Rügendamm in 1936, the place lost importance in this respect. The small harbor has of course remained and today the tranquil village is particularly popular with vacationers and day visitors from Stralsund.
