Today known as Martenshof, a restored square farm with holiday homes and tavern:

    - martenshof.com
    - visitlimburg.be/nl/overnachten/martenshof-2

Spacious, formerly closed farm, possibly to be identified as the laathof Sint-Maartenshof, belonging to the chapter of Saint-Martin in Liège; this was originally an allodial property that was donated to the Saint-Martin church by Willem van Noville around 1155-1164; also called the Dandoy farm. On the Ferraris map (1771-77) and in the Atlas van de Buurtwegen (1844) always indicated as a large, closed farm.

The core dates from the 18th century: of this only one bay of the former residence remains, in the northern corner of the yard. The service buildings date from the second half of the 19th century. The north-eastern wing was largely demolished; the stables were converted into homes and a catering business.

Brick buildings under saddle roofs, around a rectangular yard. Basket-shaped entrance gate incorporated into the stable wing on the side of Bergstraat. At right angles to this, on the north-eastern side of the yard, the remainder of the original house, one bay and one storey under a fairly steep saddle roof (ridge perpendicular to the street, Flemish tiles); the side wall on the street side has a roof and wickerwork; modified wall openings.

Converted stable on the side of Mettekovenstraat. Transverse barn on the side of Winningstraat; rectangular barn gates under wooden lintel; a rectangular door in a flat, hardstone frame.

It is this farm, the Martenshof, that gave the small municipality (barely 200 inhabitants) its name. The name Mettekoven is nothing other than Martinshoef or Martenshof, in Latin «Martini curtis» and «Martincourt» in French, or simply the farm of Martin. Originally there was only one farm or agricultural company that belonged to a certain Martin or rather to a church institution, dedicated to Saint Martin.
