An important street in the centre of Seville is Avenida de la Constitución. The street is located in the historic centre, but has not existed under its current name for very long. The inauguration of Avenida de la Constitución took place in 1915. Previously, the six-hundred-metre-long street was called Calle de Génova. There are a number of beautiful buildings on the wide, car-free street (with a tram line), including the Bank of Spain and La Adriatica. The most important building along Avenida de la Constitución is of course the Cathedral of Seville. The buildings on Avenida de la Constitución mainly house many shops and some catering establishments.
