Located in Merrion Square Park, the statue has a distinctive feature: its face expresses two opposing emotions. The left side shows a happy expression, while the right side has a sad expression. This feature symbolizes Oscar Wilde's departed soul.

    The statue overlooks the Wilde family home at 1 Merrion Square. The writer was fortunate enough to be born into a wealthy family, and his home was the epicenter of cultural life in Dublin.
